Health & Safety Training J. A. W. S. Junior Aquatic Water Safety Ages 12 - 16 years Come learn the basic skills needed for lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. Put your skills to use as a volunteer instructor in our YMCA swim lessons program! Weeks 1 - 6 focus on learning proper stroke techniques and various class management skills, receiving an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Assistant certification after successful completion. Weeks 7 - 12 concentrate on the American Red Cross GuardStart pre-lifeguarding program, learning basic skills for accident prevention, response techniques, and decision making. WINTER Series 2 - Registration Mid-November December 1, 2008 - March 8, 2009 Saturday 9:00am - 1:00pm Members $80 Non-Members $175 Lifeguard Training Course A 30-hour course, if successfully completed, provides a 3-year Lifeguarding certification as well as First Aid and 1-year CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
