Who is a Member?
A Bangor Y member is someone who purchases a membership. Someone who purchases just one program or utilizes only the pool, the workout room or the group fitness classes at our Second Street location, is considered a Program Participant, or non-member.
You Must Register for Programs.
All programs including group fitness classes require pre-registration. Priority registration for Members begins one week prior to Non-member registration. Members may drop into a group fitness class without registration if it is not full at the start of each class. Those registered (and present at start of class) will get priority and drop-ins will not be allowed into the class if the class is full with registered participants.
What Are Open Spaces?
Open spaces are included in most memberships and include areas of the Hammond Street and Second Street facilities that are available for drop in recreation or fitness during open facility hours. Open spaces include age appropriate open hours for the Second Street Laurie J. Karam Workout Room, the Hammond Street Cohen Fitness Center, all three pools during recreational/lap swim and the Hammond Street Cole Gymnasium, Racquetball Court, Climbing Gym and Game Room.
What Defines a Program or Class?
A series is typically a twelve-week period from the start to finish of a program. Some programs may not include all twelve weeks because of the curriculum or holidays that the Y is closed. See individual program descriptions for number of programs in a session and holiday list on back cover.
A program, or class, is defined as one class meeting per week. If participants wish to attend classes two or three times per week, they would be using two or three programs respectively. For instance, if a child wants to take Tae Kwon Do two times each week, that would equal two programs. Exceptions may include some Recreational Sports. Exceptions will be mentioned in the program descriptions. Young adult, adult, senior and family memberships include unlimited group fitness classes for adults. Registration is recommended.
