Welcome to the Home of the Bangor Y Barracuda Swim Team!

The Barracuda Swim Team is the Bangor Y's year-round competitive swim program. We aim to build a sense of community and team orientation in each of our members ~ male and female swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18. Each swimmer is provided with an opportunity to develop strong values, self-discipline, time management skills, and self-esteem in tandem with proper stroke mechanics. The team looks for swimmers who are sincerely interested in challenging themselves in the areas of physical and psychological training.

The Barracuda Swim Team's 2009-2010 winter has kicked off with a roster that currently includes over 70 swimmers. As we look forward to another exciting season, it is the goal of Coach Eric Palmer and the Barracuda coaching staff to continue to develop the Barracuda Swim Team as one of the strongest YMCA/USA-S Age Group teams in Maine.

** The 2010 Maine YMCA State Championship meet is just around the corner.  That means it's time for Barracuda Swimmers to get PUMPED.  If you haven't swam in 3 YMCA swim meets, which is necessary in order to compete in the YMCA State Meet, please see  Holly or Eric ASAP...GO "CUDAS!!! **

~Don't forget to check "YES" for our upcoming FEBRUARY 2010 MEETS.  The meet sign-in sheets are posted on the team bulletin board in the pool lobby.  Meeting Wizard electronic confirmations will also be sent out to everyone who has provided e-mail addresses to us.  With 1 home meets and several away meets so close to home in February it would be AWESOME to have the whole team together on the pool deck representing Barracuda Swimming!

~ With a tremendous amount of support from our local Applebee's Restaurant our team Flapjack Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, February 28th 8:0am-10:00am.  Fundraiser packets have been sent home with swimmers; if you don't have yours make sure to stop by the Swim Team office and pick one up!  The coaching staff has challenged all Barracuda swimmers to sell at least 10 tickets each.  In return, if the team meets or exceeds the goal each member of the coaching staff will swim 2 yards for every ticket sold at a practice after the fundraiser is held!  GO 'CUDAS! ~
