Babysitting Services

A perfect place to play while Mom or Dad enjoy the Y! The Bangor Y Babysitting Center is available for children of members or participants who are attending classes or using Bangor Y facilities. This program is not part of our licensed childcare program, and is located on-site at the Hammond St. facility. Call 941-2815 to reserve a spot 24-hours in advance.

Ages 6 months to 9 years.
Limit 1 ½ hours per visit
Pre-register at the Welcome Center within 24 hours of care needed.

Membership Cost:

$25 per month ($10/month for each additional child)
$3 per visit/per child

Hammond Street Hours (subject to change):

Mon-Fri 8:00-11:00am
Sat 8:00am-12:00 noon

Bangor Y Discovery Friends

Monday thru Friday
6:30 am until 6:00 pm

Ages: 1 1/2 - 5 years

Our full day childcare center is now located in our beautifully remodeled space in the Y on Second Street. We may also be able to provide back-up care when your provider is ill or on vacation. Limited availability. 6:30am - 6pm, full or part-time. Lunch and snacks are included.

The philosophy of our preschool program is children learn by doing! Children spend a part of the day in group activities and part of their day involved in self-directed learning centers. Learning Centers may include Art, Science, Math, Dramatic Play, Reading, Writing and Blocks. Language learning is a key element in the classroom and takes place through the use of songs, stories, fingerplays, and poems. A typical day for a preschooler may include circle time, group activities, learning centers, music, lunch, quiet/rest time, swim, gym, and outside play.

Y-Works Before & After School Program

Monday thru Friday
6:30 am until 6:00 pm

Ages: K - 8th graders

The Y-Works Before and After School Program encourages your child’s total development. Through teacher and self-directed activities your child will learn new skills, grow intellectually, expand creatively and mature socially. Enthusiasm for learning, respecting one-self and others are included in our goals.

Activities Include: Swim & Gym, Arts & Crafts, Homework Time, Nutrition & Science, Rock Climbing & Games and much more!
Care is also available on snow days and vacation days.
