Coaching Staff
Eric Palmer Head Coach Coach's Bio In his 5th season as Head Coach of the Barracuda Swim Team, Eric is a third generation swimmer and coach and a former Barracuda swimmer. Coming to the Bangor Y's competitive swimming program with stellar recommendations, he picked up where his predecessors left off leading the team to several successful winter and summer seasons, helping steer them in a positive direction needed to achieve their personal and team goals. As both a former Barracuda swimmer and a UMaine alumni swimmer, Eric knows first hand that swimming can last a lifetime and hopes to share his love of swimming by motivating young Barracudas to follow the same lifelong path. By cultivating a fun, upbeat environment for the team, sharing his swimming experience through his enthusiastic personality, and teaching skills swimmers can apply both in and out of the pool throughout their lifetime, he hopes to see the excitement of being part of the Barracuda Swim Team continue to grow.
Theresa Turner Assistant Coach Theresa began her competitive swimming career with Brewer High school and returned for one year as a volunteer Assistant Coach after graduation. Employed with the Bangor Y since 2003, Theresa has been an integral part of the instructional swim program for the past 8 years and is one of the program's top instructors. She has been and continues to be the primary coach for the Zoomers pre-competitive program since its inception in 2005. Theresa is in her 3rd year with the Barracudas.
Bailey Johnson Assistant Coach Bailey is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Barracudas. She comes to the program with a great deal of competitive swimming experience. Having competed in both the club, high school, and college levels she knows first hand what the sport is all about. She has a huge affection for a team based program and is very eager to step into the role. In addition to coaching, Bailey is a language arts teacher at a local middle school.
