Camp Director - David Hamel
David has been working full time with the Bangor Y since October of 2008 as the Sports and Recreation Director and has been involved with the Y in a number of capacities since 1990. He has worked at Kiddie Camp as a counselor, Camp Molly as a ropes course director, and volunteered with the Y at numerous events. David worked for three years at Camp Susan Curtis in Southern Maine while attending college and was a program supervisor for all three years. After graduating college, he worked in public education for 7 years, then social services for 3 years before joining the Camp G. Peirce Webber team. David lives in Bangor with his 8 year old daughter, Grace.
Camp Director - Cathy Hamel
Cathy is a returning Y employee, now starting her fifth year as the Youth and Teen Director. She comes to Camp Peirce Webber with seven years of previous camping experience, including working as the Director of Camp Molly Molasses, Assistant Director of Travel Camp, and as a Residential Camp Counselor at Camp Susan Curtis. Cathy has been working with youth and teens for over 15 years, facilitating and supervising numerous after school and alternative school programs. Cathy is a strong advocate for children of all ages which reflects in both her professional as well as her personal life, as a mother of five wonderful children.
Camp Supervisor & Sports Coordinator - Ilyse Angst
Ilyse has been a member and employee of the Bangor Y for more than 10 years. She has worked in childcare, the sports and recreation program, and summer camps during her tenure here. She is currently a 4th year student at Husson College studying to become an Elementary School Teacher. Ilyse brings a wonderful attitude and patience with her to camp and her ability to reach all levels of children is second-to-none.
