Meet the Staff
Jim "T-Foot" Bentley, Camp Director 2001 - Present
Jim was born in Florida, where he grew up and became involved in YMCA programs in the 10th grade. He feels the YMCA helped him figure out who he was at a very important time in his life which kept him interested in furthering his involvement with YMCA programs. Jim began his camping career at YMCA Camp Indian Springs in Tallahassee, Florida as a counselor for two summers and the Program Director for one summer. The following summer he graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery with a B.A. in Sociology. Jim's background in the YMCA and resident camping convinced him that working with children is what he wanted to do for a living and the resident camp environment was where he wanted to do it. He became a Program Director at the Tallahassee YMCA where he ran Youth Sports, Middle School Programs, and Day Camps for two years before he became the Resident Camp Director at Camp Indian Springs. After two years at Camp Indian Springs, he and his wife April decided to move to Michigan for her to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Jim became the Camp Director at Camp Algonquin for the Barry County YMCA. As April neared the end of Law School, they began discussing where they wanted to settle down and agreed that Maine was the right choice. Jim is a true believer that everything happens for a reason and as he began his job search, the Director position at Camp Jordan became available. He feels fortunate enough to be hired here at Camp Jordan and has been living with his wife and twins on the shores of Branch Lake for 10 years. His wife now works for the Law Firm of Rudman and Winchell and they could not imagine a better camp to call home.

Nick "Fence" Phair, Boys IT Program Regulator
Nick was born in Bangor, Maine and has been a native to the area his entire life. He is currently amidst his last year of study at the University of Maine, working towards his B.A. in Abnormal and Social Psychology. Nick was originally hired to work at Camp Jordan for the Summer of 2007. He immediately fell in love with, not only the camp itself, but the family that he was accepted and automatically welcomed into. Becoming familiar in the YMCA's offered programs, helped spark interest in what Nick aspired to study during his college career and, ultimately, with the rest of his life. Unfortunately, he was unable to work at Camp Jordan in the Summer of 2008. Instead, he hiked the Appalachian Trail, traversing from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. The 6 month adventure, coupled with values Nick learned from the Y, taught him much about himself and helped him focus his future goals and aspirations, which include the guidance of youth and the important role of leadership. In 2009, Nick came back to Camp Jordan to work as the Boys CIT and LIT Program Regulator. This summer will be his third summer experience with Camp Jordan and he could not dream of a better place to spend the summer months. Nick feels truly blessed with the opportunity to work at camp and be involved with the unexplainable magic that takes place year after year.
Tina "Twitch" Reeves, Assistant Camp Director
Tina was born in Burrillville, Rhode Island and became a camper at Camp Jordan in the Summer of 2000. This will be her fifth summer as a staff member at camp. Her first year as a counselor at Camp Jordan was in 2006 after graduating from Kents Hill School. Since then Tina has grown from a counselor to the Ropes Course Regulator and is now the current Assistant Director. She is a 21 year old graduate of Utica College in Utica, New York. Tina's love for children helped her decide to major in Psychology-Child Life, which she recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in May 2010. She was a member of the Utica College Women's Hockey team for her four years of college and throughout that time she has learned a lot about herself and working together as a team. Tina was able to take what she learned from her camp experiences and bring them to the team as well as bringing things she learned from being a part of a team to camp to share with the camp community. Tina is very thankful that she has been able to continue working at camp for the past few summers and work her way to her current position. She hopes to continue her career at Camp Jordan in the future.
Dayna "Porkchop" Jandreau, Arts and Crafts Regulator
Dayna is a 22 year old graduate of the New England School of Communications and has graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Audio/Video Technology. This will be her fourth year at Camp Jordan and hopefully not her last. Her love for children keeps her coming back from summer to summer. Dayna started out as a counselor in 2007 and in the past year has become the Arts and Crafts Regulator. While doing every arts and crafts project imaginable, she tries to instill unity and spirit through educational activities. She believes that you can always learn something out of a situation, whether it's painting, being crazy, or just having some fun! |
