This class will introduce the participant to the ancient art of the Chinese breathing exercise, qigong. Literally qigong means "air exercises" or "life energy exercises". The participant will learn these simple exercises, which when done properly and with correct instruction, will increase the circulation of life energy, also known as "qi", help to reduce stress levels, and increase overall health. The program will also provide some information on the history and tradition of these ancient and modern martial arts. Participants should wear loose fitting clothes and shoes with good support. The exercise level is equivalent to that of a brisk walk.
