The Bangor YMCA invites whitewater paddlers of all levels to the 1st Annual Bangor YMCA Whitewater Canoe/Kayak Racing Weekend! We have race categories to fit whatever your experience. Join us on Saturday, April 13th to race down the Souadabscook Stream in Hampden, ME, and Sunday, April 14th, to face the challenges of the Marsh Stream in Frankfort, ME.

And, the best part of this great event is that all proceeds go to support and develop the youth activities and programs at the Bangor YMCA. The Y changes lives for children, teens, families, and adults through our mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Funds raised from this special weekend event will go to benefit children in our community, giving them the opportunity to receive scholarships for the Bangor YMCA Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan, Adventure Seekers, Leaders School, and Camp G. Peirce Webber. A special award will be given to the boat that raises the most money for the Bangor YMCA. Get your boat sponsored. Help us to send more kids to these special and rewarding programs.

2013 SOUADABSCOOK SPRINT & DOWNRIVER RACE Saturday, April 13, 2013 8:30am - 1:30pm Souadabscook Stream, Hampden, ME Race Day Registration will take place at The Bangor YMCA Camp G. Peirce Webber (250 Emerson Mill Road, Hampden) and will run from 8:00am to 11:30am. Maine Downriver Series For your safety, HELMETS ARE REQUIRED Souadabscook Stream Sprint Start Time: 9:00am Register by: 8:30am Course is one mile of whitewater with Class III rapids. Souadabscook Stream Short Course Start Time: 10:30am Register by: 10:00am Starts at the end of the Portage Course is approximately 1.7 miles generally consisting of Class I & II short rapids. Souadabscook Stream Downriver Race Start Time: 12:00pm Register by: 11:30am Starts at Vafiates Landing off of Bog Road in Hermon. Course is eight miles of whitewater with Class III rapids. 2013 MARSH STREAM SPRINT & DOWNRIVER RACE Sunday, April 14th 2013 8:30am - 1:30pm Marsh Stream, Frankfort, ME Race Day Registration will take place at the Snowmobile Club on Pine View Drive in Winterport and will run from 8:00am to 11:30am. Maine Downriver Series For your safety, HELMETS ARE REQUIRED Marsh Stream Sprint Start Time: 9:00am Register by: 8:30am Starts at Snowmobile Rapids Course is one-and-a-half to two miles of whitewater with Class III rapids. Marsh Stream Short Course Start Time: 10:30am Register by: 10:00am Starts at Logging Road Course is 1.5 miles of whitewater with no portage or major Class III whitewater exposure. This short course is especially designed for beginning whitewater enthusiasts. Marsh Stream Downriver Start Time: 12:00pm Register by: 11:30am Starts at Logging Road Landing Course is 6-8 miles (depending on Start location) of whitewater with Class III rapids.

REGISTER TODAY! for the Bangor YMCA Whitewater Canoe/Kayak Racing Weekend on April 13th & 14th, 2013! It's easy to register! We encourage you to pre-register before the day of the race to make Race Day flow as smooth as possible for you. The first 85 people to pre-register will receive an official 2013 Bangor YMCA Whitewater Canoe/Kayak Racing Weekend T-shirt!

Downriver Race: $25 per person per class

RACE DAY REGISTRATION will begin at 8:00am and end at 11:30am on both days.

MEDALS WILL BE AWARDED for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers in all classes

HIGH SCHOOL RECOGNITION
The internationally renowned Bailer Award will be presented for the first time in 2013 to the fastest tandem High School boat. The Bailer Award will be held by that school until the next race year.

ADDITIONAL AWARDS
For the Souadabscook Race: The boat to achieve the highest Y-Sponsorship will receive a Free Front End Alignment from Bennett Auto Center.
For the Marsh Race: The boa to achieve the highest Y-Sponsorship will receive a Free Oil Change from Bennett Auto Center.
