The Bangor Region YMCA offers a number of on-site health and safety training classes. We offer the latest courses in the nationally recognized American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training will give anyone age 15 and older the ability to learn valuable lifesaving skills. These courses give participants the knowledge and expertise needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.
- Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment.
- Minimum of 3 participants is required to run Lifeguard classes and Lifeguard challenges.
- A 30+ hour course, if successfully completed, provides a 2-year Lifeguard certification as well as First Aid and a 2-year CPR/AED for the Lifeguard certification.
- Successful completion of the CPR section within the course is required for certification.
Starting in May, our Lifeguard Training courses will be taught through Blended Learning, combining online learning and in-person skills sessions. The online portion must be completed prior to the in-person skills session and a certificate of completion must be presented at the start of the in-person skills session.
