The Bangor Region YMCA’s Neuro Health Program for Neuro Health Patients and their Care Partners is a program focused on providing social, emotional, physical, and quality of life improvements.

During this program, both patient and care partner will be invited to attend two,1-hour movement classes each week, along with monthly support group and twice monthly social hours. Each participant will be guided by our Health & Wellness Team to the options that will be most beneficial to them and help slow progression of the disease. Care partners will have the option to participate in activities together with patients or separately.

Additional resources are available in the form of 1-on-1 personal training and Health/Lifestyle Coaching upon request. (additional charges may be incurred)

Our team of caring professionals will help you focus on three major areas to improve your health:

  • Classes that involve cardiovascular conditioning, functional strength training, balance, mobility, and flexibility designed for those with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, brain injury and their care partners.

  • Strong Connections at the Y using support groups, group activities, education, and mindfulness to increase social connections.

  • Education on the benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle after a Neuro Health diagnosis.
  • Access to music therapists, local community resources, and education through Parkinson’s Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, Parkinson’s Society, and others.
