Courtney Cotnoir Fitness & Training Manager

Courtney grew up in West Gardiner, Maine. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science.

Courtney grew up playing sports as a kid and has always been athletic, however, her journey to a career in health and wellness truly stemmed from the loss of her grandparents. Struggles with mental health drove her to an unhealthy obsession with exercise and food, so after help and support, she grew stronger and grew a greater appreciation for exercise and nutrition. Courtney truly believes exercise is medicine—physically & mentally.

Courtney’s first experience with the Y was during her senior internship, and during this experience she discovered the “Y Family” everyone had always talked about.

After graduating the University of Maine in 2019, Courtney was offered a part-time Personal Training position, which was quickly followed by a full-time Health and Wellness Coordinator position, and later she was promoted to the Assistant Health and Wellness Manager and is now the Fitness and Training Manager

Courtney says “The Y is unlike any other facility she had ever worked at. It is a place you can be YOU, without judgement, but always with love and respect. The Y is a place where you are surrounded by individuals from ALL walks of life, everyone has a story. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with such a diverse population through the Health and Wellness Department.”

In October of 2019 she and her boyfriend bought their first home together in Bangor, and in December of 2019 their family grew by four furry paws, as they adopted their two-year old boxer bulldog mix, Tequila.
